Colorado front plate

So I had to attach my front license plate to the front of my car, but I didn't have a bracket, so I tied it to the gap in front of my intercooler against the plastic mesh. I figure this is restrictive to cooling the air, however, especially with my GMPP tune and at altitude touching 26 PSI occasionally under full boost. Holding 26 PSI eventually results in LIMP-MODE and knocking. I have to have it on there because I work at a USAF base and the gate-guards are fussy about such things.

So.. does anyone have a spare front bumper bracket or a suggestion as to where to place that stupid front plate? Or get a new job?

I never bothered attaching my bracket and I have no front plate attached. I have never had an issue.

One of our local club members (Rocky Mountain Solstice and Sky Club) who lives in Highlands ranch came up with a great solution. He bought a couple of carriage bolts, wrapped them in foam until they had a friction fit through the front grille honeycomb. When he needs the plate, he slips it into the grille, then when he is done with it he pulls it out and sticks it in the trunk. Works great.

How much do you want for the bracket? Being on-base I have no choice.

Any chance you could keep it alongside your seat and hold it up to the guard when entering the base? Explain that the bracket broke off in a car wash?

Someone will have a front plate hanger they don't need. Good luck.

Sort of works on state troopers (kinda like civilian MPs).

This it?

BRACKET. License Plate. for Saturn Sky (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010) (10364149)

Man, I hate to see someone add one. Ruins the front. Mine came with one and it took elbow grease and a lot of Goo-Gone to get rid of the damn thing.

Actually they are APs. Different thing totally

Base = Air Force AP
Post = Army MP

After the Army invented the Air Force and they went off on their own, they changed their termonology out of spite.

Oh yeah, thanks!

Dad was Army Air Corps during WWII and mostly flew the hump taking supplies from India into China. Said it was always a h@lluva flight and if anyone went down in the Himalayas there were no rescue plans. Soon after the war he was USAF and flew the Berlin Airlift when the Rooskies thought they'd cut off the city's land routes and take over Berlin completely.

+1

Since causing $600 in damage to my bumper thanks to that idiotic plate bracket I've been looking at the automatic hide a plates as well. You can find them on ebay as low as $130 and they come with a pair of key fobs to raise/lower from within the vehicle.

The manual ones are even cheaper at like $40 or so.

I find it hilarious that the base guards are giving you a hard time about a front plate: Considering we have two Skys in our CO household, neither have a front plate, and both have been stopped for traffic violations with no mention of the missing plate by law enforcement.

The OEM front plate bracket is installed by a combination of double sided sticky tape to the front of the bumper and a couple bolts that go in from the underside, just above the grill. So If I were you, I would definitely go with the Hide-A-Plate system. Get the electric one and you can just press a button every time you want the plate to show.

That was factory?! I just figured someone at the dealer that originally sold mine was stupid.
