Defaultfront plate holder

I got a car from Indiana where they only have a rear plate. I don't see any holes on the front bumper of my 2010 Jetta wagon. Do you have to drill them? Bob

You need to buy the front plate holder. These are installed by the dealer not at the factory. Your local dealer will stock these. Don't just mount the front plate to the bumper unless you're going for the ghetto look.

most dealers drill holes in fromt bumper and center the plate on the car. My dealer used zip ties and attached it to the grill just below the bumper. You dont need to get a frame from a dealer. any plate frame from auto parts store will work or order 2 TDICLUB.COM plate frame at the top of the page. the pennies he makes from the sale of these support the cost of maintaining this website from which you get a lot of free advise and info.

My state requires front plates too. I'm going to jinks myself by saying this now but I've had many cars/trucks over the time I've lived here and I've never put a front plate on. When I bought my JSW I told my dealer NOT to put a plate holder on the front, they did anyway and I was pissed! Anyway, I removed the plate holder and put some plugs in the holes. They don't look the best but they look WAY better than the plate holder!

When I picked up my new Sportwagen the dealer slapped his bare frame on the front bumper. It was not till later that I saw it was mounted off center and at an angle. I was pissed also. Lucky for them that the molded plate holder just covered the holes. The molded plate holder is a decent part that has tabs that locate.on the lower grill. The instructions say only to drill about a 1/4 into the bumper cover to avoid damage to the airbag sensors. I was also told this by the dealer. You could also use one of the holders that mount to your tow hook .
