i didn;t think about the heat, I think it will be ok though as I have had the headlight ballasts tucked away by the battery and they have done no damage to anything. I just used a bunch of double sided tape to mount them inside the bumper cover...
Oh and my dog (Magda) sleeps in the garage at night with the Caliber and thats her dinner not mine lol....
